Community center, Surfside, FL. A multi-story building two blocks from the ocean with its main mechanical and vertical circulation on the parking level. Every heavy rain put the elevator pits, the fire exit doors and the stairwell at risk. The building had been relying on sandbags.

The openings

Elevator lobbies on the parking level, double fire exit doors with panic hardware, and stairwell access doors. Every outswing egress door received an interior install so the door always opens freely. Barrier spans were measured bracket to bracket on the frame, not clear door width, so each panel set fits its opening only. Panels are labeled 1, 2, 3 with the opening name and a QR code to the deployment guide.
